The coming
year promises to be an exciting one. The MultiCultural Development Center will enter its 17th year as a non-profit providing products and diversity-related services to members and the public.
Looking
back over the history of this organization and its services, I am very proud of
how the vision I had for MCDC has grown into a reality. MCDC
has helped promote the awareness of inclusiveness and multicultural understanding
in corporations and organizations, as well as in the community. I am amazed by
how MCDC has grown from 7 members in 1991 to nearly 300 this past year. Most
of the Fortune 500 companies with their headquarters in Minnesota, along with
many private and public businesses, and state government, education and community
organizations, have joined MCDC and benefited from its services. We are also currently
trying to expand our services to reach more national and global companies and
organizations. I feel great each time I hear a success story from someone whose
organization has been helped by MCDC to bring harmony and inclusiveness to their
organization.
MCDC emerged out of the need to educate
and help individuals and organizations in promoting inclusiveness and multicultural
understanding through cultural learning, presenting workshops, seminars, and conferences,
sharing diversity resources, and providing networking opportunities. Now, it has
grown into an organization that not only continues its educational activities,
but also provides consultation and support services to organizations beginning
their diversity initiatives. With the launch of our new website www.SharingDiversity.com, we are able to provide services to local, national and global clients.
I enjoy sharing the story of our work and accomplishments
with members and the community. We have helped many organizations by leading them
into the various phases of the diversity process. We have educated
over ten thousand people at our cultural learning events and our workshops, seminars
and conferences. Nearly one million Chronology of World Cultural Events posters and calendars
(listing national and global cultural, social and religious holidays, festivals
and celebrations) have been distributed nationally and globally. We have provided
thousands of people and organizations with referral services and networking
opportunities. The success list goes on and on.
Due to my years of experience in Afghanistan,
in Germany, and here at home, I have learned that for any organization to be successful,
it takes the dedication of the people involved and a concerned community - both
of which are essential to MCDC's objective. MCDC program participants, members,
sponsors, partners, volunteers and constituents have been essential to MCDC's long history
and are just as important to the future of this organization. I ask that you please
make MCDC a part of your donation and contribution program. Your contribution
is not only a gift, but also an investment in the future of our organization and
will enable us to deliver services more quickly to members and the community at
large.
